Challenge in 2024

The private credit asset management department of a prominent insurance company used to rely on manual data updates in their monthly investor reporting, which did not only consume significant time but it also carried operational risk. It was important that investors do not notice any changes to the structure of the reports.

The database they used was an off-the-shelf solution from a vendor. There was ample room to customise it to suit the client's specific needs. For example, the provider can cater to all strategies but our client focuses on one.

All of this had to be solved within a tight timeline and across multiple internal and external stakeholders. Including the private credit asset management team, the IT security department, the external fund accountant, the infrastructure team of the database provider, just to name a few.

Our Approach

We worked closely with the client and their vendors to design a customised database solution tailored to their exact operational needs. By delivering a prioritised backlog, a clear project plan and precise SQL specifications, we automated background processes without disrupting the client facing reporting process. Our independent working style meant minimal client involvement, with just 2–3 short calls per week.

Results

Within just two months, the team achieved an 18% reduction in time spent on monthly reporting, eliminating stale data and tedious manual updates. Reporting accuracy and consistency improved, freeing up capacity for higher-value activities. The project was delivered successfully despite compressed timelines, cybersecurity approvals and cross-continental collaboration. Our client really valued our independent working style.
